About Quickblade UV Hex Flex

The paddle blade on Quickblade UV Hex Flex is made in a hybrid construction of carbon fiber and fiberglass with an edge in ABS that increases impact resistance. The shaft is Quickblade's conical Diamond Elite shaft. A shaft that tapers up towards the handle and has an oval cross section for increased precision when inserting and steering. The shaft is made entirely of carbon fiber as well as the handle, which is designed to minimize incorrect loading on the wrist when you put pressure on the paddle.

The conical shape of the shaft reduces the weight of the SUP paddle while the conical shape controls the bending of the shaft and you get a firmer grip on the shaft if you choose to grip down to increase your paddle frequency.

The evenly narrow contour of the paddle blade provides an easy and smooth insertion. The back of the blade has a markedly concave UV shape that gives a very good grip in the water and maximum effect during the driving phase of the paddle cycle. At the front there is a bulge that helps to stabilize the paddle and you get a flexible recess in the paddle cycle.

Quickblade UV Hex Flex has a slightly softer blade than Quickblade UV All Carbon, which has a stiffer paddle blade made entirely of carbon fiber.

Quickblade UV Hex Flex is available in three blade sizes

  • Paddle blade 77 square inches for under 60 kg
  • Paddle blade 82 square inches 60 - 75 kg
  • Paddle blade 88 square inches over 75 kg

Technical data

"Technical data" describes the product in detail and other information about the product. If a piece of information is missing, it is not relevant for this particular product.
Color:

Color

"Color" refers to the most prominent colors in the graphic design. Color type will also be listed here shortly.
Light-blue black
Paddle

Paddle

By "standard paddle" is meant the model of paddle that is normally included when purchasing an inflatable SUP. Specific details about this paddle are listed below.
Paddle pieces:

Paddle pieces

By "paddle pieces" is meant in how many parts the paddle can be taken apart. As a rule, SUP paddles consist of 1-5 parts. For example, a 3-piece is the most common for inflatable SUP boards as these fit in the backpack together with the board.

Weight of paddle:

Weight of paddle

By "weight of the paddle" is meant the total weight of the paddle in kg.
450 g
Shaft length:

Shaft length

By "shaft length" is meant the total length of the paddle in cm. Regarding adjustable paddles, the length of the paddle is indicated where it is maximally compressed and maximally extended.
70-80" (178-203 cm)
Shaft material:

Shaft material

By "shaft material" is meant which primary material the paddle's shaft is constructed in. There are usually three different materials to choose from, aluminum, glass fiber and carbon fiber. A paddle shaft can consist of several different materials and the amount is then stated in percentage. The most exclusive shafts usually consist of 100% carbon fiber.

Blade angle:

Blade angle

"Blade angle" refers to the angle between the paddle shaft and the blade. This angle can normally vary between 0 degrees and 15 degrees for SUP paddles, with 10 degrees being the most common. A smaller angle means that the paddle is most effective when the entire blade is under the water, while a larger angle makes the paddle more efficient in the catch, at the same time it makes it easier to get it out of the water.

The blade angle is also related to the length of the paddle and the longer the paddle we use in relation to our body length, the less angle is needed. If we want to be able to paddle by using our body weight to a greater extent, a larger blade angle is preferable.

Blade material:

Blade material

By "blade material" is meant which primary material the SUP paddle's blade is constructed in. There are usually three different materials to choose from, plastic, fiberglass and carbon fiber. A paddle blade can consist of several different materials, and the amount is then stated as a percentage. The most exclusive and rigid blades usually consist of 100% carbon fiber.

The material in the shaft and blade can be different depending on whether you prefer a certain flex (bending). Many paddles can, for example, have a shaft in carbon fiber and a blade in fiberglass, which can feel more comfortable if you haven't paddled much before and then haven't had time to build adequate strength and stability in your shoulders, etc.

Paddle edge:

Paddle edge

By "paddle edge" is meant the edge around the blade of the paddle. If the blade is made of glass fiber or carbon fiber, it is relatively fragile and can be easily damaged by impact. For this reason, more qualitative SUP paddles have an inserted edge in softer plastic at the far end around the blade.

Handle material:

Handle material

By "paddle handle" is meant the part that sits at the top of the paddle shaft. This part can be designed in different ways and be more or less ergonomically designed. These are also available in different materials. As a rule, these are cast in plastic, fiberglass or carbon fiber. There are also wooden handles which can be aesthetically pleasing but often relatively heavy. More exclusive SUP paddles have handles in 100% carbon fiber as this helps to keep the total weight of the paddle down and provides a better balanced paddle.
